When to book your wedding florist?
One of the most common questions I hear from couples is: “When should we book our wedding florist?”
The short answer: sooner than you think.
Flowers are such an important part of your wedding day – they bring colour, style, and atmosphere to your celebration. But because each wedding requires careful planning, sourcing, and design, booking your florist at the right time makes the whole process smoother and more enjoyable.
12–16 Months Before Your Wedding
As a general rule, it’s best to reach out to florists as soon as you’ve secured your venue and date. Popular florists can get booked up quickly during peak wedding season (spring through early autumn), so giving yourself at least a year gives you the best chance of securing the florist you love.
Why Book Early?
Availability: Dates fill fast, especially Saturdays in summer.
Design process: Your florist will want time to get to know you, understand your vision, and create a bespoke proposal.
Budgeting: Flowers can be a significant part of your décor, and booking early means you’ll know what to set aside in your budget.
Seasonal advice: The earlier you chat, the more your florist can guide you on what flowers will be at their best for your chosen date.
6–9 Months Before
If you’re planning a wedding in a shorter timeframe, don’t panic. Many florists can still take bookings 6–9 months ahead, depending on the season. You may just need to be a little more flexible with your design ideas or flower choices.
3–6 Months Before
This is usually when the finer details are confirmed – everything from bouquet styles to table arrangements. By this stage, your florist will refine your proposal and make sure it works beautifully with your venue, colour palette, and overall style.
Last-Minute Weddings
If you’re planning a wedding in just a few months’ time, it’s still worth reaching out! While availability may be limited, a creative florist can often design something beautiful with the best seasonal flowers available.
Final Thoughts
If flowers are important to you, book your florist as soon as you can. That way, you’ll secure the right person for your day and have plenty of time to dream, plan, and create something truly special.
